Leadership![]() Company Commander Captain James A. Pease Captain Pease, a native of Michigan, entered the Marine Cadet Program as an Officer Candidate in January of 1997. First serving with 1/9 Delta Company out of Lapeer County Michigan and then transferring in May of 1997 to 1/9 Fox Company stationed at Selfridge ANGB. The Lieutenants first billet was serving in Supply getting the units supply system organized and running properly. He then served his first Annual Training duty in 1998 at Selfridge as Administration chief for the AT Command. He then received his commission in February of 1999 to Second Lieutenant. Serving with distinction the Lieutenant quickly made a name for himself and was promoted to First Lieutenant in July of 2000 after serving as Administration Officer of Annual Training 2000. Since being transferred to Fox Company the Lieutenant has served as the Supply Officer, Administration Officer, Personal Officer, Public Affairs Officer, Platoon Commander, Training Officer, and Operations Officer until being appointed Executive Officer in early 2002. Captain Pease is also the Units Martial Arts instructor and is a Certified NRA Instructor in Pistol, Firearm Safety, and Personal Protection. Captain Pease has an Associate of Science degree in Architectural Design and Construction. He works at the Detroit Medical Center doing Computer Integrated Facility Management for the Hospital System and plans to return to school to finish his Business degree. ![]() Executive Officer Captain Thomas C. Shattock Captain Shattock, a native of Michigan, entered the Marine Cadet Program in 1999 as an Officer Candidate. As an OC he instructed Basic Infantry skills to the Cadets and upon his commissioning to Second Lieutenant was tasked with organizing the Military Police Course for the Unit as well instructed it. Nelson Instructor Charlene Nelson a native of Ohio; has served with the Marine Cadets of Selfridge for the last 2 years as the Public Affairs Assistant. She is responsible for photography, helping with event planning, fund raising, and creation of recruiting posters and brochures; plus she helps out with the day to day paperwork for the unit. She is also the main liaison between the parents and the staff. Instructor Nelson was born December 28, 1953 and is the second oldest of 11 children. In her professional life, Instructor Nelson is an Administrative Assistant for the Michigan Department of Agriculture. Char and her husband Bob have one daughter named Mary and one son named David. They also have 3 grandsons’, Damian, Justin, and Corey. They have been married for 27 years and currently live in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. ![]() Supply Assistant Instructor Charles A. Fifielski |
