No! Being an Army Cadet does not obligate you to join any military branch once you turn 18. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Do I have to cut my hair? Yes! Males do have to cut their hair. Army grooming standards have to be followed at all times. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Who runs the program? The program is run by non paid professional who have been screened and their backgrounds checked. Most uniformed staff members are military veterans and those who are not have gone thru the U. S. Army Cadet Corps’ Officer Candidate School. All the member of the staff uniformed or not are here because they want to give something back to our youth. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What happens if I miss drill? If you have to miss drill, you must call up your chain of command to let us know. If you don’t show up for drill and don’t call, you will be marked absent without leave. If you are AWOL three times, you are automatically dropped from the program. No refunds of any kind will be given. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What happens if I become sick and have to miss drill? If you become sick we ask that you stay home so you do not infect anyone else and that you call your Platoon Leader to let him or her know that you will not be at drill. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What do I do if I have Football practice the same weekend as drill? It is understood that Recruits and Cadets maybe members of school sports teams or are involved in other after school activities. We want you to be able to participate and keep your obligations to those teams but you also have to keep your obligations to the unit. We get you one weekend per month and we only asked that once your game or activity has ended that you come to drill as soon as possible. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What if I have a Hockey game on the Saturday evening of drill? You need to arrive for drill on time and train that day for as long as you can until you have to leave for your game and then we ask that you return to drill once your game has ended.
